How much you know about ENERGY STAR?

You shall notice that there are quite a number of home electronics products like refrigerators, freezers, washing machines, air-conditioners, boilers, lighting lamps and ballasts are labelled with Energy Star logo. Do you know what does it means?

About Energy Star
ENERGY STAR is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy helping us all save money and protect the environment through energy efficient products and practices.

Results are already adding up. Americans, with the help of ENERGY STAR, saved enough energy in 2006 alone to avoid greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those from 25 million cars — all while saving $14 billion on their utility bills.

The government’s ENERGY STAR label on lighting means you’re getting a product that is superior in energy efficiency. ENERGY STAR qualified compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) use 75% less energy than incandescent bulbs and last 6–10 times longer. You’ll save energy and money, and reduce the greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to global climate change. Protect the environment of today and tomorrow — start by changing a light!

Via Energy Star

This will help to reduce the climate crisis like global warming: lower carbon dioxide emissions of your appliances and electronics. The very first steps that we can do as a consumer is to change your light bulbs. Again, have you change yours?
