Free E Book From John Chow

Have you all noticed that John Chow released his E Book for Free? It’s really worth reading, is a success story and guideline provided by a Dot Com Mogul who make over 11K USD per month.

For new site like this (i means my site), i don’t think that all the tips are applicable to me, since some method really require a huge page hits which is still too far for me (as of now, but who knows one day i will hit that too…emoticon), but it’s really worth reading as it provided a great guide line for us.

If you haven’t get it, go get it now, it’s free…

Finally i make up my mind and registered my domain.

The other reason that caused this delay - i need to find a affordable hosting. As i just started my blog, i need to find a affordable web hosting. Have You Start Saving For Your Retirement?

Shocking statistic shown by The Star (sorry, i just able to locate its summary article) yesterday! Only 5% are prepared for their retirement life.

retire

There is a saying, no people plan to fail but most people failed to plan. Years ago (when i just start work) I’m one of them in this group, only after some struggling to make changes in life style, spent less on unnecessary things and eat outside less, only I’m able to sustain with some saving now. It’s really a difficult process as there are too many attraction in the outside world for us to spend hard-earned money.

chart1

chart2

With the current inflation rate, will our current saving and EPF enough for our retirement?

I really need to take this serious question into consideration. As my current age of 28 years old, hope that it’s not too late for me to plan for my retirement. Suddenly feel so unsecured with the figured published on the newspapers. For those who missed this shocking news, here are some of the figure Immediate action is really require as you can see from Chart2 above, the earlier you save, the more you got.

Further more, our yearly salary increment is not taken inflation into consideration. 3-10% of yearly increment is not much actually. What can you do now with a RM4000 monthly salary for example? With so many commitments, after paying off car loan, house loan and some daily expenses the saving is easily less then 20% of our income. It has been a trend that each person need more then one job in order to fulfil our expenses expectation. I do believe that how many we earned is not our money, the more you earn, the more you spend, but how many you saved is your money.

I’m trying to make some extra income from my paid post and reviews. Really need to look into ways to have multiple stream of income nowadays…

Compaq V3204 Review and My First Vista Experience

My 4 years old AMD based motherboard finally burned. Once i connected to the internet, the on-board network interface always caused my windows hanged. I have been struggling around to find a notebook as my desktop replacement.

Until yesterday, i decided to buy on first notebook after some survey done on several outlets. Compaq V3204AU, yeah, it’s AMD processor for me again this time. I have no complaint on AMD processor so far on its performance except it really release more heat compared to Intel based processor.

vista Windows Vista Basic as its OS, Compaq V3204AU comes with 120GB Hard Disk, NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150, DVD RW, embedded ALTEC Lansing, built in 802.11a/b/g wireless, Bluetooth and 6 in one cars reader. Sounds quality is superb as for my personal requirement.

part 1

part 2

I bought this notebook for RM3199. Extra 512 RAM for RM153. Targus back pack for RM99 and extended it to 3 years warranty for another RM199. Total up to be RM3650.

Compaq V3204AU is running on AMD Turion 64 x 2 1.60 GHz processor, which is equivalent to Intel Duo Core Processor. I upgrade it to 1GB of RAM with no regret as Vista is really a RAM sucker… with few program running simultaneously, the RAM usage is always on 40-50% utilization. If you got budget, an upgrade to 2GB RAM is really recommended for a better Vista experience, expeacially for Vista Premium with AERO. I’m going to try to increase its page size, hope it will give some extra resources for my RAM usage.

At first i was afraid that driver compatibility issues for Vista with my HP 1210 All-in-one printer. Luckily this issue was not exist as Vista automatically detect my printer drivers and no software installation required for scanning purposes. All scanning can be done in Windows Photo Gallery. Much more convenience compared to my previous Windows XP experience.

As of current, i will consider it a overall good performance for my Compaq V3204AU notebook, so now i can continue blogging.

The 10 Most Annoying Alarm Clocks

#10 - Climbing clock . It hangs above your head and starts climbing while it rings. Don’t wake up fast enough, and you won’t be able to shut it up without a ladder.

# 9 Wake Up Puzzle . You have to build the puzzle to make it stop

# 8 Wake or Curse . You can ask it what the time is and it will answer. But if you don’t wake up quickly enough it will curse you.

# 7 High Tech . This one has a vibrator, 95 db alarm and police style rotating light that you cannot ignore.

# 6 Find The Pin - You need find the right pin to stop it’s ringing. Not going to stay sleepy after this mission.

# 5 Chicken and Egg Problem - The egg laying alarm clock. It will only quiet down after you put all the eggs back.

# 4 GI Joe . You will wake to the sound of your commander’s wake up call. Don’t mess with it.

# 3 Floating Around - Will float around the room until you’ll catch it.

# 2 Kaboom - This acoustic grenade will wake the neighborhood with it’s ultra loud sound level.

# 1 Hide and Seek - The winner is the hide and seek alarm clock. Once it begins to ring it falls down to the floor and finds a random place to hide.  Chase it down or else you’re doomed.

Which one you prefer? I prefer none of them. I prefer to wake up by myself every morning… emoticon

Pay Increase for Civil Servants

Announcement has been made on pay increase for civil servants. Civil servants now deserved a pay increase from 7.5 per cent to 35 per cent. At the same times, they will also get a 100 per cent increase in the cost of living allowance.

This is really a great news to over 1,000,000 of civil servants, although they have been complained for their ineffectiveness by the public, they still get their pay increase. emoticon

Secondary school teachers will have an increment of 15% of their basic pay. Some of my friends who have been a teacher for several years, their basic salary will easily around 2.5k, with this increment; they are going to get an extra 375. This is still not the end yet; do you notice the news that they will also get a 100 per cent increase in the cost of living allowance? Living allowance for teachers is around 150 in average. With the 100% increment, their living allowance will be 300 now. In other words, increment for secondary school teachers will be easily around 400-500.

Hope that this rise will really ensure their improvement on productivity, and deliver services speedily as what mentioned by our PM.

Our annual appraisal is around the corner, will I get the same great news from my boss?

Interview With Warren Buffet

I received an email regarding Warren Buffet, i found it was really meaningful & informative so i decided to share it here, for those who are not familiar with this name, here are some quick info…Buffett has amassed an enormous fortune from astute investments, particularly through the company Berkshire Hathaway, of which he is the largest shareholder and CEO. With an estimated current net worth of around US$52 billion, he was ranked by Forbes as the third-richest person in the world as of April 2007, behind telecom businessman Carlos Slim Helú.

Ok, here are the contents of the email…

A very meaningful summary from Warren Buffet interview?

There was a one hour interview on CNBC with Warren Buffet, the second
richest man who has donated $31 billion to charity. Here are some very interesting aspects of his life:

1. He bought his first share at age 11 and he now regrets that he
started too late!

2. He bought a small farm at age 14 with savings from delivering
newspapers.

3. He still lives in the same small 3-bedroom house in mid-town Omaha,
that he bought after he got married 50 years ago. He says that he has
everything he needs in that house. His house does not have a wall or a fence.

4. He drives his own car everywhere and does not have a driver or
security people around him.

5. He never travels by private jet, although he owns the world’s
largest private jet company.

6. His company, Berkshire Hathaway, owns 63 companies. He writes only
one letter each year to the CEOs of these companies, giving them goals
for the year. He never holds meetings or calls them on a regular basis.
He has given his CEO’s only two rules.
Rule number 1: do not lose any of your share holder’s money.
Rule number 2: Do not forget rule number 1.

7. He does not socialize with the high society crowd. His past time
after he gets home is to make himself some pop corn and watch Television.

8. Bill Gates, the world’s richest man met him for the first time only
5 years ago. Bill Gates did not think he had anything in common with Warren Buffet. So he had scheduled his meeting only for half hour. But when Gates met him, the meeting lasted for ten hours and Bill Gates became a devotee of Warren Buffet.

9. Warren Buffet does not carry a cell phone, nor has a computer on
his desk.

His advice to young people: "Stay away from credit cards and invest in yourself and
Remember:
A. Money doesn’t create man but it is the man who created money.
B. Live your life as simple as you are.
C. Don’t do what others say, just listen them, but do what you feel good.
D. Don’t go on brand name; just wear those things in which u feel
comfortable.
E. Don’t waste your money on unnecessary things; just spend on them
who really in need rather.
F. After all it’s your life then why give chance to others to rule our
life.

What i like the most is item no. 6…if everyone can apply this rules, can you imagine how strong Malaysia will be?

Streamyx Broadband Package Comparison

Recently TM has announced a new package on its 4.0 mbps streamyx basic package for RM198/Month. Was it considered affordable? I came across one article from Shanghai regarding broadband price package comparison over some major country around the world…for those who are not familiar with Chinese, let me share with you some if its information here….

For China, its broadband package is average around RMB 83.5 which may be different from city to city.

In US, it’s about USD 25, but they have got many competitors to compete among themselves, many other promotion packages are available to retain valuable customer.

In Germany, it’s around GEM 31 or 2.4% from their average income. In Japan, it’s 3370 yen of equivalent to 1% of their income. England 25 EUR or even free if you subscribe with their phone line package. The cheapest shall be goes to Korea compared with their living standard, which is 30000 won or 1.5% of their income. Of cause, their bandwidth is much faster then what is currently available here in Malaysia…

For Streamyx package, it’s RM 66 for 512k which is around RM 90 includes the monthly phone rent changes. It may be around 2-3% of average monthly income. I would said that at least users shall be waive from it month phone subscription of RM 26 and it will sound more reasonable and competitive.

As a comparison, do you feel that Streamyx package is expensive in Malaysia?
